It is finished
One of Jesus’ last words during His mortal ministry on earth, as recorded in John 19:30 were, “It is finished”. From His lips and one of His last breaths. He declared the work as done- He atoned for the sins of the world.
As I reflect today, I have to ask myself a very important question. As Christ said, “It is finished”- Do I believe Him?
So much of my happiness hinges upon the answer to this question.
If I believe Him, it means that hope is never lost. It means that nothing is beyond redemption and restoration. It means that unanswered questions will eventually be answered.
It makes true His comforting words from John 16:33,
“But be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
If I believe Him, then no loss of a loved one, no tragedy is beyond the grasp of the good news that we will all rise again and be united with each other in a loving and happy embrace, never to part again.
If I believe Him, then no grudge or unforgiveness is worth holding onto, for the debt has been paid. My burden can be made light if I will only accept that it is finished.
The bitter cup of mortality is transformed. It runneth over and is dripping with sweet honey, because of Him.
If I believe Him, I can be released from the burdens of beating myself up for past mistakes that I can’t ever undo or take back.
If I believe Him, I can be made better. I can become a new creature in Christ.
If the healing hasn't happened ye, it’s only a matter of WHEN and not IF.
I believe Him.
It is finished.
